The workplace and the future

Every era experiences significant changes. However, today we have the impression of living in a historical moment where change has become faster and harder to predict. This is undoubtedly the experience of many companies, which in recent years have found themselves navigating major social, cultural, economic, technological, and environmental transformations, some of which have been accelerated by entirely unexpected events. These phenomena have forced us to rethink our strategies and organisational methods in a short time, often experimenting and learning day by day. Such significant changes have inevitably affected the workplace, which plays a pivotal role in our lives and is the heart of every company.

The very nature of the workplace is undergoing a transformation. While it has traditionally been viewed as a physical space comprising desks and meeting rooms, it is now becoming a dynamic hub that reflects the identity of the company. It is a physical reference point within a network of people, ideas, and connections that transcend borders and time zones.

Our new workplaces are more than just a collection of square metres; they have a soul, foster the exchange of ideas, and open up to the world. The modern workplace must be prepared to undergo frequent changes to adapt to the ever-evolving landscape of the future. Change is arguably the most constant aspect of our era. We are living in a period of innovation that is redefining not only the location of our work but also the way we work. This will affect every aspect of corporate life, including hours, process management, the geographic distribution of staff, and collaboration opportunities. In addition to discussing the current state of the workplace, it is also necessary to address the topic of digitalisation, which presents a range of opportunities.

EuroHive, the new workplace at Eur, is designed to meet these new needs. It prioritises shared spaces, external engagement, collaboration between companies, flexible work environments, employee well-being, and access to services through the EuroHive App. This is a significant departure from the traditional office environment.

It is also important to consider the context in which EuroHive is situated: the contemporary district of eUrban, an urban evolution project that brings together people, business, art, and nature. The location of EuroHive makes it a unique workplace, certified Well Gold level. It is a place that employees choose to frequent, rather than one that is required by policy. It is not only a place where employees can work well and with pride, but above all a hub of opportunities and initiatives that contribute to achieving corporate goals.

This Journal aims to provide further insights into the ongoing changes and to serve as a forum for exchanging ideas to face this change together.
