EuroHive Meets Artificial Intelligence

Silver Fir Capital is a leading proponent of urban regeneration projects, with a strong commitment to ESG principles – Environmental, Social, and Governance – at the core of its activities. These principles align with the three pillars of sustainability for the European Union. EuroHive represents an ambitious project that goes beyond the traditional conception of the workspace through environmental, cultural, and social initiatives. In response to the question of whether artificial intelligence (AI) is sustainable, Silver Fir Capital has decided to explore the topic through the lens of ESG criteria as part of the event series EuroHive Meets AI. It is important to note that AI is not neutral with regard to any of these perspectives. By considering artificial intelligence within the context of ESG, we gain a broader perspective that goes beyond the purely technological realm. This allows us to embed AI within the wider scope of sustainable business development and address the ethical and operational impacts. In light of this new challenge, Silver Fir Capital has organised the EuroHive Meets AI series, which is dedicated to the ESG approach to AI in business. This series recognises the importance of responsible adoption of this technology. The objective is to provide insights from industry experts on how companies can capitalise on new AI opportunities while mitigating associated risks.

The inaugural meeting, entitled “AI + Governance”, was held on 28 September 2023 in the EuroHive welcome area. The event featured guest speaker Raffaella Aghemo, an innovative lawyer and consultant specialising in AI and blockchain technology. Ms. Aghemo explored potential scenarios for corporate governance in the AI era. Together with Pasquale Borriello, CEO of Arkage, and moderator Andrea Ciulu, Head of AI at Arkage, they addressed issues related to corporate transparency, emphasising the importance of developing an AI Manifesto.

The second event, entitled “AI + Social”, is scheduled for 26 October 2023. It will address the topic of “AI Anxiety” and cognitive biases with Shalini Kurapati, founder and CEO of Clearbox AI. The debate will focus on the impact of technological development on the world of work and workers, including the creation of new opportunities and the risks related to privacy and rights. The meeting will explore how to develop dependable, human-centric solutions that not only safeguard individuals but also foster a culture of trust in AI.

The final event, scheduled for 29 November 2023, will address the topic of “AI + Environment”. The meeting will focus on the environmental impact of artificial intelligence. While AI requires significant energy resources for machine learning processes and its actual use, we also want to explore how this technology can be employed to enhance energy efficiency and the eco-sustainability of buildings and facilities.

EuroHive Meets AI is one of many diverse initiatives promoted by EuroHive, which is increasingly positioning itself as a true hub where innovation and contemporary issues are central. The company is working towards a future where technological innovation must be a driver of positive change for all. For a company that adopts an integrated ESG approach in managing its activities, every decision requires consideration of the resulting environmental and social impacts. This includes the adoption of artificial intelligence.
